07 Sep UTC Congratulates Anna Gomez on Her Confirmation as FCC Commissioner by US Senate
Arlington, VA – September 7, 2023 – Utilities Technology Council (UTC) Interim President & CEO Ron Beck issued the following statement today after the United States Senate confirmed the nomination of Anna Gomez to serve as the fifth Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission.
“On behalf of UTC and its members, I congratulate Anna Gomez on her confirmation to serve as FCC Commissioner. Her extensive and deep public service record at the FCC, NTIA, Congress, the White House, and, most recently, at the State Department’s Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy ensures that the U.S. stays on the cutting edge of communications. Ms. Gomez and her deep policy expertise will bring a unique and valuable perspective to the Commission. I also want to congratulate Commissioners Brendan Carr and Geoffrey Starks on their confirmations to serve additional five-year terms as FCC Commissioners.
“UTC’s member electric, gas and water utilities are empowering communications to support the safe, reliable, and secure delivery of energy and water services. We look forward to working with Ms. Gomez and the entire Commission to ensure the reliability of mission-critical communications that underpin the utility industry and that depend on access to interference-free spectrum. We also look forward to working with Ms. Gomez and the Commission to promote funding for last-mile and middle-mile broadband networks that utilities are deploying in unserved and underserved areas.”.
