Gary Wood is the President and Chief Executive Officer at CVEC & CVSI. He earned a BSEE from the University of Virginia as an electrical engineering undergraduate and an MBA from Auburn University. He has 30 years of experience at CVEC, with the last 12 as CEO. He has previous experience designing campus and institutional electric, communications, and alarm systems as a consulting engineer. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Virginia. Mr. Wood worked on projects for CVSI and later served as a board member for the organization when they offered ISP service to members from 1997 through 2010. He has been chosen to serve on the audit and finance committees of the statewide electric cooperative organization and the Blue Ridge Power Agency, both of whom are affiliates of CVEC. He has broad and deep experience in building infrastructure, operating an ISP business, and managing projects and businesses. As CEO of CVEC and CVSI, he leads the efforts to build and operate the physical plant and manage the overall construction of the fiber network.
Mr. Wood and his wife, Debbie Harvey, live in Nelson County. They have a son and a daughter.
