Resilience- Part 1 of 2

In 2020, the UTC motto was “pivot.” I never imagined the amount of pivoting we really had to do. All the pivoting we endured, made us all stronger and ultimately, resilient.

2020 was a roller coaster ride and just when we thought the ride was over, 2021 took us for a loop. COVID-19 is not letting up any time soon and I am so thankful that our members aren’t either. You have shown us that UTC is vital to the work that you do, and you are willing to stand behind the association through thick and thin.

The 2021 Telecom & Technology conference is already a month behind us, and I am still feeling the adrenaline rush and positive atmosphere that Portland, Oregon gave us. This whirlwind week would not have been made possible without the resilience of the UTC Staff, board members, sponsors, exhibitors, in-person, and virtual attendees, and of course the lifeblood of the association- our members.  I extend my sincere gratitude and thank you to our members for their enduring support, not just at the annual conference but over the last 18 months.

Another year is coming to an end and at UTC, we are just getting started. In-person events are no longer up in the air, we are on the road again, providing you with the education and training that you want and need. Just last week, in Providence, Rhode Island, I got to witness firsthand why that beautiful city was picked to host the Telecom & Technology 2020 conference. I am so glad I still had the opportunity to experience Providence during our Northeast Territory event. Regions one and two showed a great turnout and impressive display of collaboration and innovation. I appreciate each and every one of you who participated virtually, and in person and I cannot wait to see you all at future events.

I can’t help but continue to think back to the obstacles we, UTC, have overcome together. The outpouring of appreciation that I witnessed in Portland, and again in Providence, has made the roller coaster ride a fun one. You all have proven your loyalty time and time again and it’s what motivates us to work hard each day to give our members what they signed up for in the first place. The training, education, networking, advocacy, resources, the list goes on.

I may be starting to sound like a broken record, but please get involved with the many UTC committees and divisions we have to offer. I urge you all to reach out and talk to your regional officers, attend regional events, even if it isn’t your region! Login to Networks and start a conversation with somebody new. Attend one of our many free webinars and panel discussions. UTC has a lot to offer in between our annual conferences and I am calling on all of you to attend a new event this year, whether it be in-person or virtual. Participation is key to a fulfilling relationship with UTC.

We promise to never stop giving you the tools you need to be successful and impactful, so long as you continue being hardworking, committed, and resilient.
