Washington, DC—UTC and EnergySec have partnered to provide high quality cybersecurity training to the utility and critical infrastructure industry.  The partnership combines the expertise of both organizations into a new education track focusing on the needs of utilities.  Initial topics are NERC CIP and cyber supply chain risk management.

“Cybersecurity is an area of vital concern for utilities and their technology providers.  Making affordable, high quality training available to utilities of all sizes is an important step in the right direction,” said Connie Durcsak, UTC President and CEO.

“This partnership is about combining the strengths of both organizations to provide a more complete education opportunity to utilities—one that delivers the knowledge required to address the security challenges facing our critical infrastructure,” said Steven Parker, President of EnergySec.

Both organizations provide expertise in their respective subjects.  Steven Parker and his EnergySec colleagues bring forth many years of working for utilities, and as NERC CIP auditors as the standard was being established.  This team truly understands how to help utilities figure out what is required of them now and what will be required to transition to NERC CIP 5.  Nadya Bartol of UTC is a globally recognized expert on cyber supply chain risk management.  She leads ISO efforts to standardize cyber supply chain risk management practices, worked with other national and international standards groups on the same topic, and delivers cyber supply chain solutions to US-based clients.

Education sessions will include Cyber Supply Chain training and foundation work on NERC CIP V5 as well as more in-depth work covering NERC CIP compliance and standards.  Course schedules will be issued in the coming weeks.
