Looking for Energy & Telecom Convergence? Attend UTC’s Annual Meeting in Palm Springs!

Washington, Feb. 6, 2018 Hundreds of utility executives, engineers, vendors, and top federal and state officials are gathering this May at the Utilities Technology Council’s Telecom & Technology Conference in Palm Springs, Calif.

Confirmed speakers include Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Member Neil Chatterjee, who will provide keynote remarks on Thursday, May 10. Other speakers include UTC Chairwoman of the Board Kathy Nelson from Great River Energy, UTC President and CEO Joy Ditto, and other industry and technology leaders.

The conference is being held from May 7-11 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. A complete agenda and program information is available here: www.utctelecom.org.

The UTC Telecom & Technology Conference is the premier event focused on the convergence between the energy and telecommunications sectors. Attendees will learn how telecommunications policies on spectrum allocation, pole attachments, and more are impacting energy delivery. Additionally, participants will receive the latest information on cybersecurity and how electric utilities are providing broadband services and thus bridging the digital divide.

A special feature of this year’s conference is the Smart Systems for Smarter Communities exhibit on May 9. The exhibit will look at Smart Communities through a utility’s eyes. Developed by UTC member utilities, the Smart Systems for Smarter Communities focuses on utility business scenarios that enable a smarter grid and smarter communities: beyond-the-meter, grid, operations telecom, cybersecurity, and corporate perspectives. Each of those perspectives will be examined in a booth on the Expo Hall floor.

“If you care about grid modernization, telecommunications networks, or smart cities/communities, you need to be at this conference,” said UTC President and CEO Joy Ditto. “As always, this event has its collective finger on the pulse of the latest trends and policies underpinning utilities’ telecommunication and technology needs. This is a can’t-miss event. I hope you can join us!”

Reporters interested in covering the event may attend at no charge; however, given the demand for rooms, reporters are encouraged to notify Rob Thormeyer as soon as possible to secure a room at the conference hotel and to be registered as press.
