Global Expert on Cybersecurity, Nadya Bartol, Joins Utilities Telecom Council

Washington, DC—The Utilities Telecom Council (UTC) welcomes Nadya Bartol, global expert on cybersecurity, as Senior Cybersecurity Strategist.  Bartol will lead UTC’s efforts in delivering a balanced, risk management approach for addressing evolving cybersecurity policy and threat environments.

Bartol joins UTC’s leadership team with over 17 years of cybersecurity experience with a premier global consulting firm, Booz Allen Hamilton, where she focused on implementing cybersecurity programs across the federal government and with commercial clients.  She is a globally known expert in cybersecurity measurement, cyber supply chain risk management, continuous monitoring, and cybersecurity standards.

“Nadya’s vast experience and knowledge will provide UTC members, and the industry, with crucial leadership on this increasingly complex issue,” said Connie Durcsak, President and CEO of UTC.  “Her practical experience in engaging federal and commercial clients with programs rooted in national and international standards will provide immediate benefit to UTC members.”

Bartol is an active leader in standards development and currently serves as Project Editor for an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard that addresses protecting organizations’ information in relationships with suppliers, ISO/IEC 27036 – Information technology – IT security techniques – Information Security for Supplier Relationships.  She co-authored several NIST special publications and interagency reports, including 800-55, Performance Measurement Guide for Information Security and NIST Interagency Report 7622, Notional Supply Chain Risk Management Practices for Federal Information Systems.

In addition, Bartol serves as United States delegate to an ISO committee dedicated to the development of cybersecurity standards where she is US technical expert working on the ISO/IEC 27000 series standards, Information Security Management System, and a US Head of Delegation (HOD) for Working Group 1.

Bartol is a frequent speaker and panel facilitator at premier industry events, workshops, and conferences including RSA, Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute (CMU SEI) workshops, DHS/DoD/NIST Software Assurance Forum and Working Groups.

The Utilities Telecom Council believes that cybersecurity is the new reliability challenge for information and communications technology and other critical infrastructure industries.  Since 1948, UTC has served as the source and resource for information and communications technology (ICT) solutions, collaboration and advocacy for utilities and other critical infrastructure industries.
