ABOUT THIS EVENT

IEC61850 is an international standard for communications in an electric substation. This webinar will provide attendees with an Introduction to IEC61850 applications and benefits and practical insights from implementing the system. Network architectures for IEC61850 solutions and IEC61850 integration in overall substation will also be reviewed.

PRESENTERS:

Mohammed Tageldin Younes- MSc. CEng PMPMIET, Linxon

Mohammed Tageldin Younes received his BSc. In Electrical Power Systems and Machines in 2008 and his MSc. in 2013 from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. Since 2008 he has been working in the field of EHV/HV substations design. He joined ABB Power Grids in 2012 and is currently working for Linxon as Head of Engineering and the Project Lead Engineer for Hinkley Point C Power Transmission project. His previous projects include delivering Substation Automation Systems in different transmission, FACTs and Railway applications.

Pavan Rajagopal CEng MIET, Project Lead Engineer, PGGA – ABB Power Grids UK Limited

Pavan Rajagopal joined ABB UK in 2014 and worked as Protection and test engineer on Great Western Electrification Project. His role in this project was to design and implement IEC61850 based enhanced automation system for Railway Electrification solution. After he moved into the role of Project Lead Engineer in 2016, he worked on National Grid 400kV Substation Automation projects. Currently he is working as Lead engineer for Hinkley Point C project as part of Power Grids – Grid Automation team.

Prior to joining ABB UK, Pavan worked with Schneider Electric India as Research and Development engineer in Energy Management Systems. Most of his career in India was with ABB India Ltd, which involved multiple roles like Protection and Control Commissioning, Protection and Control Design and Leading project engineering team. In his role in ABB India, he has worked on multiple Substation Automation and Power Plant projects where IEC 61850 based solutions for System Protection, Automatic sequencing, Auto reclosure, Auto isolation and interlocking were applied using compliant ABB and other multivendor devices(Intelligent Electronic Devices, Network Switches and SCADA systems).

Pavan has achieved Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from The National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, India.
