Tim Pospisil is Nebraska Public Power District’s (NPPD) Director of Corporate Security and Chief Security Officer (CSO), with responsibility for leading NPPD’s Physical and Cyber Security teams for both IT and OT. He leads NPPD’s compliance efforts for the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards (CIP) and is NPPD’s designated NERC CIP Senior Manager. He joined NPPD in 1999 at Cooper Nuclear Station and served as a Procurement Engineer and was the stations Environmental Qualification (EQ) engineer for 3 years after working previously for Motorola Semiconductor as an Equipment Engineer and Test & Packing Section Manager. Prior to his current assignment, he led NPPD’s NERC CIP implementation projects and held the position of the District’s IT Cyber Security Supervisor for three years. He is active in many groups, including the Large Public Power Council (LPPC) Cyber Security Task Force where he is the current Vice Chairman, he is the current chair of the Cyber Mutual Assistance (CMA) Executive Oversight Team, and is a member the North American Transmission Forum Security Practices Group, as well as other state and local security groups. Tim graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He holds certifications from ISACA as a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM); SANS – GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC); and CompTIA – Security +.
