22 Nov Lamont Hill
Lamont Hill serves as Director of Public Policy at Oncor, the largest electric delivery company in Texas. His responsibilities include developing and communicating legislative policies that support and further strengthen the company’s overall position and brand as a leader in the Texas electricity market. Additionally, Lamont is responsible for maintaining effective relationships with state officials, legislators, and their staff, to ensure the company’s interests are successfully represented throughout the legislative process. Prior to his current role, Lamont served in various leadership positions in information technology, including Director of IT Applications and Infrastructure Management and Director of IT Network Services. He began his IT career within the electric utility industry more than 20 years ago as a network engineer supporting what was then a vertically integrated utility, which provided generation, delivery, and retail electricity services. He helped provide technical leadership and expertise in the areas of IT network and security in support of the company’s deregulation activities in the state, in addition to its growth and expansion into a global utility. While his current role is quite different from his technical roots, Lamont is still focused on ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of electricity to more than 10 million customers across the state.
In addition to his primary responsibilities, Lamont serves as the board chairman for the Utilities Technology Council Foundation, an organization established to address workforce development needs in the critical infrastructure industry. He is also co-chair of a new engineer development program designed to provide young engineers within his company with a broad scope of technical training, as well as mentoring support in order to establish a solid foundation for a successful career in the electric utility industry.
Lamont earned a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to his academic studies, he was a starter on the UT Longhorn Men’s Basketball team and enjoyed participating in community outreach initiatives including The Neighborhood Longhorns. Lamont currently resides in Dallas, TX with his wife and two children.
