UTC CEO Sheryl Osiene-Riggs Issues Statement on the Jan. 6 Events at the Capitol

WASHINGTON—Utilities Technology Council President and CEO Sheryl Osiene-Riggs issued the following statement in response to the Jan. 6 events at the U.S. Capitol:

“I have struggled to put into words my emotions about what transpired in the Capitol yesterday. Our Capitol. While I know this great country will overcome these events, I also know it will not be easy. As a citizen, I am speechless, but not shocked. As much as I love this country, we have never truly and honestly dealt with our nation’s original sins. We have allowed transgressions and divisions to fester, and rather than do the hard work of healing and understanding, far too many have instead stoked these flames. I am a person of faith and still believe our country’s best days are ahead of us. In the meantime, I pray for our nation to begin healing, and for the four who lost their lives yesterday. The healing will take hard work, but it is work that I know our nation can and will do. I pledge to do my part both personally & professionally to make this world & country a better place.”
