FCC approves Wi-Fi Alliance Waiver request for LPI devices
The Wi-Fi Alliance had requested a waiver of section 15.407(l)(1) to permit automated frequency coordination (AFC) systems in the 5.925-6.425 GHz and 6.525-6.875 GHz frequency bands to account for building entry loss when determining permitted frequencies and power levels for composite low-power indoor (LPI)/standard-power unlicensed access points. The FCC found that the waiver would serve the public interest by increasing the utility of 6 GHz unlicensed devices without increasing the potential for these devices to cause harmful interference to licensed services which share the spectrum. Read More
