LACKEY AND GARRISON HONORED BY INDUSTRY FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE

ORLANDO, FL. – Joseph Lackey and Allen Garrison, Telecom Wireless Supervisor at SRP Telecom, were honored last night by their peers with the highest distinguished services awards presented by the Utilities Telecom Council (UTC) during our annual Awards Dinner.

Lackey was given the 2008 Dondanville Award, named in honor of UTC’s first president, Russell V. Lackey has been an active member of UTC for many years, serving as Chair of UTC’s Southeast Region, several UTC Committees including Member Development and as UTC’s Chairman of the Board from 2006-2007.

Garrison received the 2008 Meehan Award, named in honor of UTC’s first executive director Charles M. Meehan. The Meehan Award recognizes leadership in a particular UTC effort over the past year that significantly advanced the interests of the industry. Garrison was honored with this award through his dedicated of getting UTC’s newest independent operating unit, the UtiliSite Council, created. He spearheaded UTC’s role in collocation efforts and helped UTC recognize the need for utilities to be involved in collocation from a business revenue standpoint. His dedicated and leadership through the first year of the UtiliSite Council has helped grow its membership and reach.

Both men were presented with their awards at the Annual UTC Awards Banquet during UTC TELECOM 2008, UTC’s annual conference at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida.
